Ground Broken For Burlington County Amphitheater

On October 2, The Burlington County Freeholders broke ground for a 500-seat amphitheater that was designed by Lord Worrell & Richter, Inc.  The amphitheater is scheduled to open May 23 with a performance by the folk-rock band Grey Eye Glances.

The amphitheater will be located between the main branch of Burlington County Library and the County Health Department building, both on Pioneer Boulevard.  The amphitheater will feature multi-tiered seating around a stage with an adjacent pavilion  for ticket and concession sales.

County spokesman Dave Wyche said the county's amphitheater would not compete with a 300-seat amphitheater under construction in the Willingboro Town Center on Route 130 (also designed by Lord Worrell & Ricther, Inc.)  The county's amphitheater will provide a venue for countywide entertainment and the library's more popular programs, while Willingboro's amphitheater is being designed primarily for municipal events.

Other acts scheduled for next summer include Burlington County College Foundation Theater's presentation of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," folksinger Ellen Wooloshin, award-winning singer Patricia Shih, classical guitarist Anton Del Forno, Jim Murphy and the Pine Barrons, and singer Charlie Zahm.  The amphitheater will also host many children's programs that will be organized by the County Library.
